Booking Policy for SoundGate Distribution

By booking any of our services at SoundGate Distribution, you agree to the following Booking Policy. Please review these terms carefully before completing your booking.
1. General Overview
At SoundGate Distribution, we provide royalty-free music distribution and promotional services using CD Baby, Inc. as our distribution platform. When booking our services, you authorize us to distribute your music to various platforms (including Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) on your behalf.
You have the option to:
- Use our business account for distribution through CD Baby, Inc.
- Pay an additional fee of $2.99 to have an individual CD Baby, Inc. account created under your name for direct control of your music distribution.
2. Distribution Options
A. SoundGate Distribution Business Account
- When choosing to distribute through our business account, SoundGate Distribution will manage all aspects of your music’s distribution using CD Baby, Inc.
- You, as the artist, retain 100% ownership of your music, including all rights and royalties.
- SoundGate Distribution will handle royalty collection and reporting on your behalf through CD Baby, Inc.
B. Individual CD Baby, Inc. Account (+$2.99)
- For an additional $2.99 fee, you can choose to have an individual CD Baby, Inc. account created for your personal use.
- SoundGate Distribution will assist in setting up the account, but once created, you will have full control over the account and any revenue generated.
- All royalties and revenue from the music distributed through this individual account will go directly to you.
3. Payment of Royalties
- If you choose to distribute via our business account, SoundGate Distribution will collect royalties from CD Baby, Inc. and remit them to you according to the following:
- Payment Frequency: Payments will be issued monthly or when royalties reach a minimum of $50.00.
- Payment Method: Payments will be sent via PayPal or E-Transfer.
- No additional fees or deductions will be taken from your royalties beyond the initial distribution fee.
4. Advertising Services
- In addition to distribution, SoundGate Distribution offers custom advertising plans on our social media platforms to help promote your music.
- Advertising fees are separate from distribution fees and will be outlined and agreed upon at the time of booking.
5. Booking Fees, Refunds, and Cancellation Policy
- Refunds Before Work Begins: Refunds are available only before work on the distribution has begun. Once we have started processing your distribution or account setup, the service becomes non-refundable.
- Individual Account Setup: The $2.99 fee for creating an individual CD Baby, Inc. account is non-refundable after the account setup is completed.
- Cancellation Policy: Cancellations are eligible for a refund if requested within 24 hours of booking, provided that no work has begun. After 24 hours or after work has begun, cancellations are non-refundable.
- By completing your booking, you agree to these terms and acknowledge that no refunds will be issued after work begins.
6. Additional Charges
- Any additional platform fees charged by CD Baby, Inc. or other third-party services for specific features, services, or optional add-ons (such as licensing, physical copies, etc.) are not covered by SoundGate Distribution and will be the responsibility of the artist.
7. Ownership and Rights
- You retain full ownership of your music, including all copyrights, royalties, and related rights.
- SoundGate Distribution acts solely as a distributor on your behalf and does not claim any ownership over your music.
- When using our business account, you grant SoundGate Distribution the authority to distribute your music through CD Baby, Inc. across various platforms.
8. Artist Responsibilities
- By booking with SoundGate Distribution, you confirm that you own or have the legal right to distribute all music submitted.
- You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information regarding your music during the booking process.
9. Limitations of Liability
- SoundGate Distribution is not responsible for any delays or issues caused by third-party distribution platforms, including CD Baby, Inc.
- While we will work to resolve any distribution issues, we cannot guarantee specific results or timelines.
10. Changes to the Policy
- SoundGate Distribution reserves the right to modify this Booking Policy at any time. Changes will be communicated via email or posted on our website.
